Image Courtesy CMAAshley Monroe knows the value of having friends in high places. Her pal Blake Shelton put her on his song, “Lonely Tonight,” which just hit #1 on the country chart last week. She found out about the good news last Monday night through a text from Blake, and his support has meant a lot to her personally

Ashley tells ABC Radio, “He is genuinely so proud of me, and he wants me to shine. He texts me the whole time we’ve been at #1. I can tell he’s excited for me way more than he is him. That means so much.”

Ashley has known Blake and his wife, Miranda Lambert, for years now, but Blake’s star is shining a lot brighter lately thanks to his gig as a coach on The Voice.

“He’s like such a superstar these days,” Ashley says. “We’ve known him so long. He’s so much the same still, though, too.”

Singing with Blake has given Ashley a lot of opportunities, including performances on the CMA Awards, The Voice and Jimmy Kimmel Live. Ashley even filmed a Pepsi commercial with Blake on an aircraft carrier in Texas.

She recalls, “We had a police escort for that commercial in Corpus Christi. We landed in his private plane, and police escort takes us and we go on that aircraft carrier, police all around us. I said, “I’m so glad I’m friends with Elvis.” That’s what it felt like!”

Ashley is now climbing the country chart with her brand-new solo single, “On to Something Good.” It’s the lead release from her upcoming studio album.
