B1047 HS Football

Ready or not…it’s playoff time!

First and foremost, congratulations to the Wamego Red Raiders as they advance to the Class 4A-II playoffs. Dale Burkholder’s team will host their first round game next Friday night out at the Sports Complex…and Hot Country B1047 will be there to bring you all the action!

Starting November 7th, it’ll be the Dick Edwards Ford Area Game of the Week…State Playoffs edition! As always, brought to you by Dick Edwards Ford Lincoln Mazda & Hyundai…just minutes east of the Manhattan Town Center on highway 24.  Check out the great selection of new and pre-owned cars and trucks.  They can also service your vehicle, do body work, and don’t forget about that legendary speedy service with Quick Lane!

The Rock Creek Mustangs saw their season end at 2-7 as they were on the short end of a 46-13 decision to last year’s 2-1A State Champion Centralia Panthers. Centralia scored on their first offensive play, and got three more touchdowns in the first quarter enroute to the victory. Rock Creek didn’t go quietly though, as Jackson Goodmiller hit Chase Ridder with a 10 yard TD pass, and Zach Nider took one in from 34 yards away. Centralia wins the district with a 3-0 mark, and will be joined by Nemaha Central (as district runner-up) in the Class 3A tournament, which starts Tuesday night.

The Riley County Falcons are also playoff-bound! The Falcons beat Marysville tonight 40-7, and will go in as runner-up to Minneapolis. Steve Wagner’s team will face a tough test in the bi-district round; they’ll travel to Norton to take on the undefeated Blue Jays.

Tonight on 1350 KMAN, the Manhattan Indians will finish up their season on the road against Washburn Rural.  The Tribe went undefeated during the regular season, but lost both it’s home district games and will have to sit out postseason play for the first time since 2007.  After last Friday night’s loss to Lawrence Free State, Joe Schartz commended his team for playing hard all year.  Free State and Topeka will meet in the Capital City with the district title going to the winner.

You can follow your team throughout their playoff journey…for as long as their still playing…with the Dick Edwards Ford Area Game of the Week…on Hot Country B1047!
