Zach tells ABC News Radio, “I wanted to play guitar like Brad Paisley so bad.”

Zach and his younger brother, Colton, built quite a following over the next few years as a duo, and they started playing an big annual show in their Oklahoma hometown. That concert happened to fall on Zach’s 18th birthday one year, and Zach’s father surprised him onstage with a pink paisley Telecaster guitar to celebrate the occasion. Since he doesn’t want to look like a Brad Paisley super-fan, Zach doesn’t play that guitar in public anymore.

“I do have it hanging on my wall, ’cause it means so much to me,” Zach explains. “So, now I’m hoping when we go on tour with Brad, I can tell him the story and maybe he can write me a little note, and it means more on the wall.”

Zach and Colton recently got Brad’s phone number to send him thank-you texts for picking them for the tour. Colton admits it’s very odd to have Brad’s number.

He says, We probably shouldn’t put his name under Brad Paisley in our phone, but I do, just to see it on my phone.”
