ABC/Image Group LABrad Paisley put a little extra “Mud on the Tires” on Friday by adding an extra stop to his Country Nation College Tour.

The students and teachers at Nebraska’s Field Club Elementary posted a video posted on YouTube earlier this month asking Paisley to visit their school as part of his Country Nation College Tour, according to the Omaha World-Herald, and he surprised them with an impromptu concert in the school’s gym.

Paisley — sitting on a stool at the front of the gym and strumming his guitar — played portions of four songs: “American Saturday Night,” “Mud on the Tires,” “Country Nation” and “Welcome to the Future,” the song that plays in the video made by Field Club staff and students.

“They took a song that really means a lot to me in ‘Welcome to the Future,’ and put that to video with the signs that said ‘Please Come See Us,’ and all that and that kind of thing always gets to me,” Brad 43, told the newspaper. “It’s really powerful.”

Pulling of the surprise appearance was no easy feat for Brad — who played a free concert at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln the night before and was headed to the University of Kansas that day — but he just couldn’t refuse those smiling faces.

“I think the best message they can get today is that they matter,” says Paisley. “They matter enough that someone who’s busy touring would stop and sing them a few songs, and that’s a good feeling to give somebody. They matter to me.”

Paisley’s Country Nation College Tour continues on Friday with a stop at UCLA.
