Photo Credit: James MinchinBrantley Gilbert is postponing his remaining shows overseas after Friday’s violence in Paris. The “Stone Cold Sober” singer made the announcement Saturday on social media.
“Out of respect for the lives lost in yesterday’s terrorist attacks, we have decided to postpone the rest of our European dates,” he shared on his Facebook page. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of France at this tragic time. WE WILL BE BACK.”
The concerts kicked off Wednesday in Amsterdam, with Brantley and tourmates Michael Ray and Canaan Smith continuing on to play for audiences in Hamburg and Munich, Germany. Another German date originally set for Saturday was put on hold, as well as four more shows in the United Kingdom.
This isn’t the Georgia native’s first foray into the European market, having played dates across the pond earlier this year. “We’ve been a couple times and stayed, this one’s 14 days, so it’s a little bit less than the last one,” Brantley said before leaving the States, explaining how excited he was, especially since his wife Amber was set to join him for the last half of the jaunt. “She went on the last tour over there with us. Yeah, she really enjoys it and the scenery over there is absolutely gorgeous. It’s awesome.”
No word yet on when the makeup dates for The Blackout Tour may be. Brantley’s next stop in the States is January 28 at the Dow Event Center in Saginaw, Michigan.
