“I got my first kiss during some sort of animated movie — it might have been Toy Story. Probably when Buzz Lightyear came to the rescue, because, you know, I like to rescue people,” he jokes. “I was rescuing her heart, I was stealing it away.”
When asked what advice he’d give his 13-year-old self, Brett says “lay a smack on those lips and sing her a song,” admitting that his technique may not have been quite up to par at that age. “You’re so nervous on that first kiss, you know, I don’t think it went too well, but you’ve got to start somewhere.”
Brett admits serenading the ladies is still one of his “favorite sports,” name-checking John Mayer’s “Your Body Is a Wonderland,” as a go-to tune. Currently working on his second album, the “Mean to Me” hitmaker made the comments during one of People’s Golf Cart Confessionals taped before Sunday’s ACM Awards.
