The Friends of the Kansas State University Gardens are hosting a poinsettia and amaryllis sale on 3 different dates at the Quinlan Visitor Center. Dates are Friday, November 17th from 3:00 – 5:30 pm; Wednesday, November 29th from noon to 5:30 pm and Friday, December 1st from 3:00 – 5:30 pm. Poinsettias and amaryllis are $10 each or 6 for $50. Many colors and varieties are available. Come early for the best selection. Cash or check only.
Mitten Monday, a mitten and glove drive for the FIT Closet will be held on Monday, November 27th, for new and gently used pairs. The FIT Closet is located at 1609 College Avenue in the “White House” behind the College Ave. United Methodist Church. They are open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday morning from 9:00 until noon and Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:00 to 5:30. Donations are welcome at that time. You can call Barb Hartnett, the FIT Closet coordinator at 785-236-9944 to make arrangements to drop off donations, volunteer, or if you have questions.
Command Sergeant Major (retired) John White Jr will discuss “A Look Back at a Military Life” Tuesday, November 28th from 11:30 to 12:30 pm at the Riley County Historical Museum. The program is free. Everyone is invited to come and bring a sack lunch, if they wish. CSM (retired) John White Jr served in the U S Army from 1950 to 1979, and had many interesting experiences during his career, part of which was with the First Infantry Division. The first Infantry Division is celebrating its centennial in 2017.
The Little Apple Barbershop Chorus presents Harmony for the Holidays A Family Tradition on Saturday, December 8th at McCain Auditorium on the KSU Campus. Doors Open at 1:00 pm. Faculty Brass Quintet at 1:30 pm and the program begins at 2:00 pm. Guest appearances by: Timeless A Capella; KSU Faculty Brass Quintet; Rhapsody Ringers; Ken Garwick-Magician; Michael B and Santa Claus.
