Arista Nashville/RCA RecordsIf you look closely at the cover of Cam’s first full-length album, Untamed, you’ll see she’s drinking from a straw, stabbed directly into a lemon. It turns out the photo is an expression of her philosophy about life.

“The idea of just drinking a lemon straight is:  Life is going to hand you a lot of things that you don’t necessarily want to deal with and you should not water it down and sweeten it up,” she tells Rolling Stone. “Drink it straight, and deal with it head-on. If you’re brave enough to take whatever it is head-on, you win. The world is yours.”

Cam had a hand in writing all eleven of the songs on her debut, including her current hit “Burning House,” her first single “My Mistake” and the lead-off track, “Untamed.” She chose producers who’ve worked mostly with non-country acts like Beyonce, Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran, as well as Taylor Swift.

Untamed is due in stores and online December 11.
