Randee St Nicholas/Schmidt RelationsWhen Carrie Underwood launches the Storyteller Tour: Stories in the Round at the end of January, not only will she be playing in the center of arenas for the first time ever, she’ll also be pushing the boundaries of what her shows look like. She’s hired Rihanna and Mariah Carey’s creative director, as well as a production designer who’s worked with rock bands Metallica and No Doubt.

“I think it’s gonna be different for me, as far as production and stuff like that,” she says. “But we’ll see what we come up with. I’ve only seen like some renderings and like we’ve just been talking about everything.”

As for what other artists are doing on the road these days, the new mother admits she couldn’t tell you, since the only show she’s been to lately was when Brad Paisley invited her to sing with him when he opened for the Rolling Stones in Nashville.

“I haven’t been to a concert, uh, in a while! The last one’s, well, yeah, cause I sang with Brad at the Stones thing. That was cool, but I’m not the Rolling Stones,” she laughs. “I mean I don’t really think I try to look too much at what other people are doing for inspiration. I wish I could take in more concerts. But not for inspiration, just for fun,” she adds.

Carrie unveils her new show January 30 in Jacksonville, Florida, with Easton Corbin and the Swon Brothers joining her as special guests.
