Arista NashvilleThanks to “Church Bells,” Carrie Underwood now has two dozen career number ones to her credit. This week, the third single from her Storyteller album also becomes her 24th trip to the top of the charts.

With its rags-to-riches tale of love gone wrong, the story of an abusive husband and the wife who plots revenge seems tailor-made for a music video of cinematic proportions. But instead, Carrie opted for a live video that showcases the production of her tour.

“I just love the energy of ‘Church Bells.’ It is a lot of fun when you sit down and think about videos and you think of like a story line and you try to kind of just make it that much more epic,” she considers, before explaining what she decided to do. “I mean I’m so proud of this tour, with the energy of this song, I just thought it would be a great pairing with showing off what we do.”

Shot on location in Lincoln, Nebraska, the clip ultimately included a whole lot more than just “Church Bells.”

“Even when we were going through what we were going to do in the video, I was like, ‘I want the whole tour — not just this song in the tour — for this video. I want moments from the entire show,’” she recalls. “I feel like it’s just a good representation of what the show’s like.”

If you’ve missed your chance to see the Storyteller tour so far, never fear. Carrie kicks off the second leg August 31 in Anchorage, Alaska.
