Courtesy CMACarrie Underwood is the first performer to be announced for this year’s installment of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest, and she’ll be performing live in New York City’s Times Square for more than one million fans.
“There’s nowhere else I’d rather be than New York’s Times Square, one of the most magical places in the world, to ring in the New Year,” says Carrie in a statement. “It’s going to be a memorable night, and I can’t wait to celebrate with the world!”
Ryan, who as the host of American Idol was witness to Carrie’s first steps towards fame back in 2005, says in a statement, “The first time I heard Carrie sing, I knew she would be a superstar, and each year she continues to dominate the charts. I can’t wait to see her rock Times Square and ring in 2016 as our headliner.”
More performers will be announced in the coming weeks. The fun gets underway December 31, 2015 on ABC.
