This Day In History – July 7

1956

Johnny Cash made his Grand Ole Opry debut at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium! He also met his future wife, June Carter, for the first time. It must’ve been love at first-sight!

1998

Michael Jackson and his financial partner, Don Barden, announced their intentions to build a lavish entertainment complex, The Majestic Kingdom, in Detroit! This adult-entertainment center would include a theme park, hotel, casino, botanical garden and nightclub.

It never happened. Detroit’s city commission shot down their application for a permit…TWICE!

Apparently nothing in Detroit is majestic these days:

and then lastly…

How about a blockbuster?!

2006

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, opened in theaters! It was the second Pirates of the Caribbean movie, starring Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow!

This makes me wanna be a dirty, smelly pirate!

Oh wait…I just need to add “pirate” to be so…
