CMA Music Festival Special Ratings Hold Steady

Image Courtesy CMAABC’s CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock special delivered solid ratings for the network with more than 7.2 million viewers tuning in to the three-hour special. Those numbers will rise as DVR and online streaming views are factored into the equation.

The special, hosted by Little Big Town, brought in the strongest ratings for a non-sporting event of any Tuesday program for ABC since 2010. That’s even more impressive since the show went up against NBC’s America’s Got Talent this year.

Brantley Gilbert Having a Blast Performing with Pals Justin Moore and Thomas Rhett on “Small Town Throwdown”

Image Courtesy CMABrantley Gilbert‘s latest album, Just as I Am, was recently certified gold thanks in large part to his hit collaboration with Justin Moore and Thomas Rhett on “Small Town Throwdown.” The trio performed the song on ABC’s CMA Music Festival special Tuesday night, and it was obvious the guys are genuinely friends in real life.

Brantley says, “Man, I love those guys to death. It’s no joke. You see a lot of collaborations, [but] these two guys are good buddies of mine.”

Justin and Thomas both quickly agreed to cut the song when Brantley approached them. Their natural friendship is on full display in the brand-new “Small Town Throwdown” video. The guys shoot guns, take on a former wrestler and show off some funky dance moves in the clip.

“Me and Justin and T.R. cut up pretty good,” Brantley says. “We have a good time.”

Since Brantley, Thomas and Justin are all on the same record label, there weren’t any legal issues with their contracts preventing them from cutting the song.

Says Brantley, “It was an easy idea, and a whole lot of fun carrying it out.”

Brantley will perform “Small Town Throwdown” when he joins Luke Bryan‘s concert bill at Lincoln Financial Field Friday, August 15. Lee Brice and Cole Swindell also are on that stadium show.

Taylor Swift Reveals Second Clue

ABC/Jon LeMayTaylor Swift has dropped another mysterious “clue”…but for what?

Earlier this week, Taylor posted onto Instagram her “first clue”: a clip of her repeatedly pressing an elevator button for the 18th floor.

She released a second clue on Wednesday. It was a screenshot of her phone featuring her white kitten, Olivia Benson, sitting nearby an old-school camera inside a storage shelf. Above the cat is a drawing of a city. The clock on the screenshot reads “5:00.”

So far, it’s hard to tell what the singer is hinting at, though rumors are strong that it all ties in to new music from Taylor.

Rascal Flatts Cancels This Weekend’s Shows Due to Illness

Image Courtesy Big Machine RecordsRascal Flatts has canceled their shows this weekend due to an illness affecting Gary LeVox‘s voice. The affected shows include stops in Nampa, Idaho; Airway Heights, Washington; and Mission, British Columbia in Canada.

“It is incredibly difficult to make the decision to cancel shows and disappoint our loyal fans who have been so good to us over the years,” says Flatts member Jay DeMarcus. “The schedule of shows this past weekend, coupled with media days in New York City, have left him without a voice. We promise to return as soon as we can and give our fans the best show possible!”
