Jason Aldean Isn’t Going to Talk Your Ear Off During His Concerts

Image Courtesy Broken Bow RecordsJason Aldean tries to keep his mouth shut during his shows unless he’s actually singing one of his hit songs. You won’t find the superstar doing a lot of talking to the audience in between songs.

He says, “They don’t come out to hear me talk. You know what I’m saying? So, they come out, we’re gonna try to play as many songs as we can play.”

Most of those hit songs, like “Johnny Cash” and “When She Says Baby,” are designed to get fans on their feet. Jason and his band have been together for more than a decade now, but they still put their all into delivering those hits during the show.

“[The fans] know that when the show is over, I’m gonna be exhausted ’cause I’m gonna try to go out there and give it everything I’ve got,” Jason says. “My  band, obviously, they’re one of the best in the business. They do the same thing. I think that’s what really makes it work is that it’s all of us up there doing that.”

That team effort creates the kind of atmosphere Jason wants fans to experience at his concerts.

He adds, “Anybody that’s been to one of our shows knows that it’s gonna be loud and it’s gonna be fun, and that’s what we want.”

Jason’s Burn It Down tour continues this weekend with shows in Ohio, Illinois and Iowa.

Kenny Chesney Explains Why He’s Launching His Tour in Nashville

Danny ClinchKenny Chesney has a good reason for kicking off his Big Revival tour in Nashville this Thursday and Friday.

Chesney turns 47 on Thursday, and he wanted to celebrate it with a special woman in his life. He explains to USA Today, “My mom wanted to be with me on my birthday, but I wanted to open my tour on my birthday, which meant I had to do it pretty close to home.”

Chesney took a cue from Major League Baseball and took part in his own “spring training” earlier this year to prepare for the tour. He went on a strict diet that includes not eating carbs after 5 p.m., “and that’s tough. But I eat a lot of vegetables.”  He also works out one hour per day.

Chesney’s crew is surely looking forward to the dates ahead on the tour — and the possibility for a big payday. The singer says he will put his crew’s names into a hat for a monthly drawing to win proceeds from merchandise sales. In the past, he explains, “they ended up splitting it amongst everybody, so not just one person got it. They could have, but they decided to take the money and split it, which is great.”

Gary Allan Taps Into the Motown Vibe for Latest Single, “Hangover Tonight”

Image Courtesy CMAGary Allan found a song he really loved for his next album, but someone else recorded the Motown-inspired track before he could hit the studio. As a result, Gary met up with the writers of the song — Chris Stapleton and Jesse Frasure — to write another song with that soulful vibe he liked in the first song. That’s how Gary came up with his latest single, “Hangover Tonight.”

Gary tells ABC Radio, “I got together with ‘em, wrote three songs and all three of ‘em made the record.”

“Hangover Tonight” is actually about a guy trying to keep his wits and moderate his drinking as he tries to get somewhere with his love interest. As for a real hangover, Gary admits it’s more difficult to recover from a night of drinking now than it was in his younger days.

“Lord knows I can’t drink or smoke like I could,” Gary admits, “but for me, I gotta run through it. I gotta get up and exercise. Like, I can’t chemical up or chemical down. That just builds on me. So, I have to get up and I have to sweat it out.”

“Hangover Tonight” is the lead single from Gary’s upcoming studio album, due out later this year.

Kenny Chesney Helping Raise Big Bucks for His Alma Mater’s New Football Stadium

Image Courtesy Sony/Blue ChairKenny Chesney has signed on to co-chair the fundraising committee for a new football stadium at his alma mater, East Tennessee State University, in Johnson City. The 30,000-seat stadium will open in the fall of 2017 as the venue for the school’s Buccaneer football team. The facility will cost around $26 million, and Kenny is glad to give back to the college that shaped him so much.

He says of his experience there, “The education I received, the friends I made, the music I made all altered the path of my life in such a positive way and I am forever grateful.”

Kenny goes on to say the building of this stadium and the return of the football team to campus — it currently plays home games off-campus at Kermit Tipton Stadium  –  will have a huge impact on life at ETSU and the surrounding area.

“I’m excited for the school, the town, the students, and for all the future ETSU football players that will be a part of history and something really special,” Kenny adds. “I’m honored and thrilled to be a part of that in a small way and can’t wait for kickoff.”

Kenny always includes several stadium dates in his concert tours, so there is a chance he could one day perform in the new football stadium, too. Kenny returns to the road with The Big Revival tour launching next Thursday and Friday night at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
