The Band Perry’s Kimberly Perry Reflects on Her Laid-Back Wedding Day

Image Courtesy Splash PRThe Band Perry‘s Kimberly Perry is always on the go, due to the group’s tour schedule, but her pace slowed dramatically for her wedding day earlier this month in her hometown of Greeneville, TN.

Kimberly tells ABC News Radio, “It was a special one. I woke up pretty early and spent a lot of time contemplating. It was a very slow morning. I ate two chocolate donuts, which I’m very proud of. That was the one thing I wanted.”

Kimberly’s band mates and brothers, Reid and Neil Perry, didn’t have as slow a morning.  Reid says, “We woke up at six o’clock and started scrubbing dirt and mud off the driveway, so I never got my two eclairs that Kimberly did.”

While Kimberly claims she made sure there was a cinnamon twist for Reid in their morning pastry delivery, he says, “They were gone whenever I had it.”

Kimberly tied the knot with pro baseball player J.P. Arencibia June 12. The Band Perry is now on tour with Blake Shelton. Go to TheBandPerry.com to see where they’re playing next.

Lee Brice Blends Multiple Influences into Cohesive New Album, “I Don’t Dance”

Image Courtesy Curb RecordsLee Brice‘s new album, I Don’t Dance, is all over the map musically with sounds influenced by rock, blues, hip-hop, and, of course, classic country.

Lee tells American Songwriter, “I didn’t want anything to feel the same. So I really tried to understand what I was doing the whole time.”

Shepherding the entire project into one cohesive piece of work means Lee declined to record some songs he knows will end up on the radio by other artists.  “There were a few songs I loved but I didn’t love the verses,” Lee explains. “I just did not love what they said or how they felt so I just couldn’t get into them. Although they may have been hits, I had to pass on them.”

Now that Lee is finished with I Don’t Dance, he may be shifting his focus to another big project in the works in Music City.  Says Lee, “I got a call. Garth has been making some new music and I think he’s been looking for songs around town.”

Look for Lee’s new album, I Don’t Dance, in stores September 9.

Chris Young Gives Details on His Kitchen Knife Accident

Image Courtesy Sony Music NashvilleChris Young had to undergo a few surgeries on his left hand after severing tendons in a kitchen knife accident earlier this month. Though some reports made it sound like he was cooking a big late-night dinner at the time of the accident, Chris tells The Topeka Capital-Journal, “I was cutting a piece of fruit. It wasn’t like I was cooking anything.”

Chris is now undergoing physical therapy to regain the use of his left hand, and he hopes to be playing guitar again in about six weeks. In the meantime, Chris is performing just fine without his instrument.

He says, “I’m really known as a singer first. I can still entertain and move around, and I’ve worked out a few things that I don’t normally do on my shows.”

Keith Urban Delivers Anniversary Wishes to Nicole Kidman at Australian Concert

Capitol NashvilleHappy anniversary to Keith Urban, who wished the same to his wife, actress Nicole Kidman, while onstage at a concert in Melbourne, Australia, this week.

Wednesday was the couple’s eighth wedding anniversary.  It was also the first of two sellout shows for Keith in Melbourne.  According to the Melbourne newspaper the Herald Sun, the 46-year-old singer dedicated his performance of “Making Memories of Us” to Kidman, declaring, “Eight years, baby girl. This song is for you. I love you so much.”

Kidman was reportedly watching the concert from a VIP sky box at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena.

Keith also recalled for the audience how he sang the song to Nicole at their wedding. “This is a song a lot of people have at their wedding. We had it at ours. I sung it. I was too cheap to get anybody else,” he joked.

Earlier in the concert, Keith performed “Once in a Lifetime” and told the audience he was inspired to write the song one day after the then-engaged couple had a discussion about their wedding plans.

“A couple of months before the wedding, we were in our hotel and we were talking about the future and Nic was getting very nervous about marrying me,” Keith recalled.  “She was saying things like ‘it’s a long shot.’ I knew she loved me and was just nervous. I did everything I could to remind her that I was going to be her man forever.”

The couple have two children together.

Keith begins a run of shows in North America, starting July 12 at the Calgary Stampede in Alberta, Canada.
