Jon-Paul Bruno/NRA CountryAs “Gonna Wanna Tonight” becomes his second consecutive top-five hit, Chase Rice is already looking ahead to his next album, testing out new material he’s written and recorded as he plays dates on his JD and Jesus Tour.

“I put out 19 songs on my last album, and I figured out through that what I love and what I hate,” he tells the Chicago Sun-Times. “It will be all about depth,” he says of the project he’s working on now. “If there is any way to find out who someone truly is, it’s through hearing about the deepest parts of their lives. That’s what these new songs will have in them.”

This week, Chase swings through the Lone Star State, playing Austin on Thursday and San Antonio on Friday. No word yet on when his new album may be finished.
