Sweet Talk PublicityThis weekend, Blake Shelton wraps up the first week of his new tour with stops in Louisville, Kentucky, and Detroit, Michigan. In the opening spot this time around is “Power of Positive Drinkin'” hitmaker Chris Janson.

When he first found out he’d get to hit the road with the star of The Voice, Chris says he and Blake hadn’t really had a chance to get acquainted. But that all changed around the first of the year, during an annual hunting trip put together by the Grand Ole Opry. As you might imagine, the two hit it off.

“What a great guy, first of all! Really enjoyed getting to know him,” Chris says of Blake. “The realest real deal I think probably I’ve ever met of an artist out there yet. I think it’s gonna be a great tour. I think that after meeting him now especially. I was just kind of guessing what I thought he was gonna be like, but after knowing him — God, we have a lot in common! Man, he hunts, he fishes, he says anything he wants to — and he’s a great country singer, man. He’s a cool country dude!”

Chris, who notched his very first number one as an artist in 2015, believes the pairing is also a good fit for the fans.

“I think the ‘Buy Me a Boat’ audience is going to be the ‘Boys ‘Round Here’ audience,” he says, referencing Blake’s hit from 2013. “I think it’s gonna mesh just like peas and carrots, if you will. And the good thing is, I’ve been able to tour this year, starting with Toby [Keith] and ending the year with Luke [Bryan] and now starting out again with Blake here in 2016, with guys that I actually like, guys that I actually respect, and guys that have been really nice to me. That’s important. I know in years past, you always remember the ones who treat you really good on the way up and I can see that that’s gonna be a third one, right off the bat.”

After their Friday and Saturday dates this weekend in Louisville and Detroit, Chris and Blake play Lincoln, Nebraska, and Kansas City, Missouri, next Thursday and Friday.
