CMAIt looks like country music came out on top of hip-hop, judging by the initial TV ratings for Wednesday night. The 49th Annual CMA Awards was the most-watched show of the night, winning the evening for ABC. It’s the first time any network has beaten Fox in the time slot since the urban-centric hit Empire debuted in January.

In all, 13.6 million people watched “Country Music’s Biggest Night,” broadcast live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, compared to 11.6 million for the show starring Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson.
