Michael Tran/FilmMagicIn 2016, the CMA Foundation will give close to three million dollars to 29 non-profits involved in music education– all from money raised during CMA Music Festival. Next year’s $2.68 million is the biggest contribution ever, all thanks to the fact that the artists play each summer’s Nashville stadium shows for free.
One of the grants will help fund Zac Brown’s Camp Southern Ground. His vision for the state-of-the-art facility in Peachtree City, Georgia grew out of his own experience as a camp counselor. Camp Southern Ground works with kids from 7 to 17 who have both typical and special needs, offering nutrition, exercise, music, arts and technology on 400 acres of Georgia farmland.
In all, the CMA Foundation has donated $13.68 million toward music education since 2006. This year’s CMA Music Festival takes place June 9-12 at the recently renamed Nissan Stadium, formerly known as LP Field.
