LucasfilmWhen Star Wars:  The Force Awakens rolls for the first time in theaters tonight, you can bet some of your favorite country stars will be in the audience to check out the most anticipated film of the year, including Dan+Shay.

“I already bought tickets. December 17, 7:20 p.m., first showing in Nashville. I bought tickets I swear! $70, but I bought four of them, so, yeah. It worked. It was awesome,” Dan Smyers says.

Rascal Flatt‘s Jay DeMarcus will be among the first to see the movie too. “I watch the trailers relentlessly. I’m such a huge, nerdy Star Wars fan. I am. Unabashed!” he proclaims.

“He’s made me a Star Wars fan,” Joe Don Rooney chimes in.

As for what they’re expecting from the film, Dan+Shay predict as far as they’re concerned, the latest installment of the saga pretty much can’t miss.

“You know, I like any Star Wars movies. Obviously my favorites were the originals, four, five and six. Empire Strikes Back is my favorite one. I’m looking forward to these because I think they have a little bit more of a classic look. They look a little bit more like the first trilogy. I think it’s going to be great,” Dan says.

“We talk about it constantly,” Shay Mooney admits.

Rascal Flatts’ resident Star Wars expert is similarly inclined to like anything in the franchise, even the sometimes-criticized prequels.

“You know, I didn’t think they were that bad,” Jay muses. “I think, you know, George Lucas made those movies for kids. I mean the acting in the first three films isn’t the finest. So it’s gotta be a little kitschy, you know?”

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will officially be released on Friday, December 18 by Disney, the parent company of ABC News, with early screenings starting tonight.
