Warner Music NashvilleDan+Shay may have a top five single that’s a serious contender to soon be number one, but the duo says they still get excited anytime anyone plays their music.

“I mean, hearing our song on the radio is the coolest thing in the world. It never gets old,” Dan says. “We still text each other, to this day. We heard ’19 and Me’ on the radio the other day for the first time in a while, our first single, and we were just like ‘Awww this is insane!’ It’s still awesome.”

Even though “Nothin’ Like You” turned out to be an instant fan favorite, Shay says the most successful song of their career so far almost didn’t make their album.

“Man, that song has always been kinda the one song that fans really sing. Before we put it out as a single, they always sang it really, really loud,” he recalls. “It actually was funny. It barely made the record, cause we had turned in our album and we had written it kinda after we turned those songs in. We kinda lived with it for a second and we were putting together the album and I know my sister and my parents and Dan and all the women in our life were like, ‘We gotta put this song on the album.’ It’s always been a fan favorite and we listen to them.”

This week, you’ll have a chance to listen to the holiday sounds of Dan+Shay. The twosome performs “O Come All Ye Faithful” this Thursday night on CMA Country Christmas. You can catch it at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
