MCA NashvilleDavid Nail’s new album Fighter not only includes his top-15 hit, “Night’s on Fire,” it also boasts several special guests, including Vince Gill and Brothers Osborne. In fact, the record starts with a song TJ and John wrote — one David liked so much, it actually upset him because he figured he’d never be able to cut it himself.

“‘Good at Tonight’ was a song that I heard the demo and I was actually kind of mad because I just assumed that they were…sending me the song because we’d been on the road with Brothers Osborne and they were just saying, ‘Hey! Here’s another Brothers Osborne song,’ David recalls.

And even when he found out the siblings were pitching him the song for his project, he was still a little skeptical.

“I immediately texted John and was like, ‘Hey, are you sure you’re not gonna record this song, ‘cause I don’t want to fall in love with it and then record it and then you decide six months from now that you love it and you want to record it, and then I have to take it off the record, ‘cause you win.’ And they were like, ‘Naw man. If you love it, man, do it.’ And so I said, ‘I’m gonna do it, but there’s one stipulation — you have to sing on it.’”

You can check out Brothers Osborne’s collaboration with David on his fourth studio album, Fighter, which is out today.
