1919

The 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which prohibited the sale or transportation of alcoholic beverages, was ratified.

Basically, here’s what the 18th Amendment reads:

An Act to prohibit intoxicating beverages, and to regulate the manufacture, production, use, and sale of high-proof spirits for other than beverage purposes, and to ensure an ample supply of alcohol and promote its use in scientific research and in the development of fuel, dye, and other lawful industries

It was later repealed by the 21st Amendment…nearly 14 years later!

Yay for booze and free enterprise!

1985

Fellas worldwide: “Hey, thanks, Hef! That staple was distracting!”

“You’re welcome, boys! Enjoy!”

and then…

1991

The White House announced Operation Desert Storm
