ABC/Image Group LA“Die a Happy Man” is taking Thomas Rhett into some serious Taylor Swift territory. This week, the song he wrote about his wife Lauren spends its sixth week in a row at number one on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. The last time an artist equaled that feat was in 2008, when Taylor spent half a dozen weeks atop the ranking with “Our Song.”

“I seriously can’t believe [it]. When you put a song out there as personal as this, you hope it connects and resonates with people. But I could never have imagined it would connect like this! And to mirror an achievement not seen since Taylor Swift — someone I really respect as a songwriter, performer and entertainer — is just mind-blowing,” the Tangled Up singer says.

This week, “Die a Happy Man” also clocks its eleventh week at the top of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs tally. Right now, Thomas is busy heating up the crowd for Jason Aldean on the We Were Here tour. In March, he’ll head overseas for three dates in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
