CMADierks Bentley spent many years on the road as an opening act for artists like Kenny Chesney before he was able to branch out and become a full-time headliner. Now that he’s the main act on The Sounds of Summer tour, Dierks is enjoying his role as a kind of mentor for his support acts Kip Moore, Canaan Smith and Maddie and Tae.

Dierks tells ABC Radio, “I feel like I do have some advice to dispense when it’s wanted or needed or necessary, but I’ve been fortunate to be out there with a bunch of great headliners — Kenny Chesney for one. I’ve learned a lot over the years and try to pass that down.”

Above all else, Dierks wants everyone on the Sounds of Summer tour to just have a lot of fun and walk away with some great memories.

“I mean, it’s summertime. We’re on the road. Let’s have some fun,” Dierks says. “We’re here to technically work, but we’re playing music in front of tens and 20-thousands of people. If you’re not having fun doing this, then you’ve got problems. I try to make it as fun as possible.”

Dierks and his crew will be on the road together through September.
