Webster PRIn an introduction taped at Dollywood, Dolly Parton unveils the first footage of her NBC TV movie, Coat of Many Colors.

“The Great Smoky Mountains, my home — I have so many memories of growing up here. This Christmas, I would love to give a gift to you,” she says, seated in a sleigh, with her guitar beside her. “My favorite song that I’ve ever written tells a true story from my childhood about a little coat that my mama made for me.”

The film not only focuses on the now-familiar tale told in her 1971 hit, but also follows the Parton clan as they deal with the loss of Dolly’s younger brother. Jennifer Nettles makes her acting debut as the matriarch, Avie Lee, while Ricky Schroder plays her father Robert. The trailer also includes a new version of Parton’s song, recorded especially for the movie.

Coat of Many Colors is the first in a series of NBC movies based on Dolly’s classic compositions. It premieres December 10 at 9 p.m. ET. You can watch the 3-minute preview on YouTube now.
