NBCUniversalCoat of Many Colors was so successful its first time out, NBC plans to air it again on Christmas Day. Final numbers show 15.6 million people watched Jennifer Nettles star as Dolly Parton’s mother in the TV movie based on Dolly’s autobiographical hit from 1971. That makes it the most-watched broadcast TV movie in more than six years.

“I hoped to bring some families together so they could sit and watch a move like this,” Dolly says. “I really wanted to celebrate the people, my whole family, who made me who and what I am today. I’m so blessed and thankful for everyone who watched and I hope this story reaches many, many more when NBC shows it Christmas night,”

Coat of Many Colors re-airs December 25 at 9 p.m. ET. A movie based on Parton’s hit “Jolene” is now in the works.
