Saam Gabbay Courtesy of Yahoo MusicFrankie Ballard already has three number ones in a row to his credit, and judging from the response to his new single, it looks like “It All Started with a Beer” just may continue his streak. The debut song from his third album was the most added at radio on its first day out.
“It’s a song about how some of the biggest things in life can have very small, humble beginnings,” he says of the tune co-written by Jaren Johnston from The Cadillac Three, who also helped pen Frankie’s chart-topper “Sunshine & Whiskey.”
Knowing what music has always meant to him, Frankie says he pushed himself even harder when he started making his new project, due out early next year.
“I think it’s the best music I’ve ever recorded. I certainly tried hard to get better. I’ve always counted on music so much. Ever since I was little, I counted on it,” he looks back. “I counted on it to fire me up for a baseball game or a workout or to help me get over some little girl who broke my heart or just to be happy and sing and whatever. And I know other people are like that too and they count on music, so since I was given the blessing to be able to record music, I feel like I should give it everything I’ve got!”
Fans who turn out to see Frankie on his solo gigs, or playing with Randy Houser on the We Went Tour this winter, can expect to hear even more new music from his forthcoming album. Also on the books for the Kalamazoo, Michigan native — his sixth annual hometown Christmas show to help Notes for Notes, a non-profit that gives young musicians access to free instruments and free lessons. That comes up December 19.
