Atlantic / Warner Music NashvilleEven though High Valley is enjoying their breakthrough hit in the U.S. right now, Brad and Curtis Rempel have already racked up three gold records in their native Canada — and their current single, “Make You Mine,” just happens to be one of them.

For the brothers from La Crete, Alberta, music has always been a family affair.

“For the last few years, it was three of us brothers, until about three years ago,” Brad says. “We’ve always been all about family. You know, we grew up with family values and putting family first. And when we started having families of our own, it kind of came to a crossroads where we either had to move to Nashville to keep pursing this thing, or not. Curtis and I decided to move our families down here and make this home base and keep chasing this dream, and Bryan, our brother, decided to raise his kids up north where we were born and raised.”

As for the origin of the duo’s name, Brad confesses High Valley is a dream he’s had for a long time.

“I did a fake radio show growing up, probably because we didn’t have real radio, so we had to create it,” he recalls of his Mennonite upbringing. “So my parents bought us a cassette recorder, and I did news, weather, sports, interviewed the fake bands, and the band was always called High Valley. So when we finally had our own band, it didn’t have to be fake anymore, it could be for real this time!”

This Friday, High Valley’s debut U.S. album, Dear Life, will be released, just as “Make You Mine” is on the verge of cracking the top 20.
