MCA NashvilleTonight at Cleveland, Ohio’s Blossom Music Center, Sam Hunt sets his first major headlining trek in motion.

When it came time to pick the opening acts for the 15 in a 30 Tour, Sam says choosing Maren Morris and Chris Janson was purely instinctual.

“These are people who, I just was drawn to when I met ’em…” he explains. “They’re passionate, talented, and there’s an integrity to them as people and their music. And… their music’s great. They’re really doing cool things.”

Sam had also seen the “Buy Me a Boat” singer in action.

“I met him at a Luke Bryan show,” Sam says of Chris. “The crowd was going crazy, and I was back on the bus, and I was like ‘What’s going on out there?’ So I walked around and started watching the show.”

“It’s hard for me to sit and watch a concert…” the “Body Like a Back Road” hitmaker admits.  “Because I do it all the time and I don’t have necessarily the attention span for it, unless I’m really drawn in. And he drew me in, right off the bat. And it’s a different color than what we have on the tour, so that was really cool.”

On the other hand, when he was planning the tour, Sam admits that he wasn’t really familiar with Maren. But he trusted what his nearest and dearest were telling him.

“I kept hearing about Maren from everybody several months ago. Like ‘She’s the real deal…’ he recalls. “And since then, I have become more familiar with her music, and she lives up to the hype.”

The 15 in a 30 Tour pulls into Noblesville, Indiana on Friday night, before heading to Cullman, Alabama for the Rock the South festival on Saturday.
