Big LoudIt’s a big weekend for Chris Lane. His full length-album Girl Problems comes out on Friday, just as his breakthrough hit, “Fix,” makes a run for number one. The North Carolina native tells ABC Radio he remembers the moment he discovered what would turn out to be his signature sound.

“I had this Usher song stuck in my head that day and I was just nonchalantly walking around in the back of the studio and I was singing that song and I sang this really high falsetto run,” he laughs, “and my producer stopped and he turned around. He was like… ‘Why don’t you do stuff like that in the vocal booth?’”

Shortly afterwards, his manager found the song “Fix,” and it wasn’t long before Chris hit the road on Dustin Lynch‘s Hell of a Night tour.

“You could tell as the song started getting more radio play, it started getting out there a little bit more. Then it was like every single show, more and more people were showing up and they started screaming the words. And then they started knowing all the words to some of the other songs… And for Dustin to share his fans with me — he’s just awesome for that!”

This weekend, Chris continues his stint on Rascal Flatts’ Rhythm & Roots tour with Kelsea Ballerini.
