“He casually asked if I had ever tried CrossFit and I told him no, so he invited me out to his [gym] and I took him up on it,” Josh recalls. “The first workout he put me through had me coughing my lungs up for hours, but it didn’t deter me.”

Two years later, Josh is following in the four-time champion’s footsteps and entering a CrossFit competition of his own. On Thursday, he traveled to Boston to support his friend in the Reebok CrossFit Games, before finishing his first competition workout on Friday.

“I never dreamed I would be competing in a CrossFit Open! I’m looking forward to it, but I’m scared to death because I’m far from being an expert at CrossFit,” he says. You can keep up with Josh’s progress on the CrossFit website.
