Mercury Nashville“Next up:  a song about stolen boots. Not sure if there’s anything more country.” That was Kacey Musgraves’ light-hearted response on Twitter, after being the victim of a crime earlier in the week in Nashville.

The Pageant Material singer was parked near popular Music City concert venue 3rd & Lindsley on Monday, when she returned to find her passenger window had been pried open and two pairs of Lucchese boots and the accompanying receipt gone, according to the police report she filed. The boots are worth about $900, while it’ll cost about $500 to fix Kacey’s window.

Law enforcement caught a break when the alleged thief tried to return the distinctive footwear to the Music City Lucchese store, and the manager both remembered selling the Grammy winner the boots and spotted her name on the receipt. Kacey also happens to have designed her own line for the brand.

30-year-old Darnell Cunningham was arrested and charged with theft of property on Wednesday.

“Stupidity leads to victory,” Kacey tweeted, having the last word.
