Image Courtesy Mercury NashvilleKacey Musgraves‘ sophomore album, Pageant Material, is coming out June 23 featuring the lead single “Biscuits.” The cover shows Kacey with a big, retro hairdo, heavy makeup and a pageant crown on her head. In following up her CMA and Grammy-winning debut, Same Trailer Different Park, Kacey feels she had a very clear direction for Pageant Material.
“The majority of Pageant Material was recorded live — which was a bit of a departure from Same Trailer — and gave it more of a concise, classic sound,” Kacey explains. “All of the incredible musicians were in the same room playing on the entire record, and I think that spirit comes across.”
Kacey goes on to say she still gets emotional about some of the lyrics on Pageant Material even though she’s heard the project many, many times.
Says Kacey, “It’s a great glimpse into where my head is from Same Trailer to now.”
