ABC/Image Group LA Keith Urban will give the world its first taste of his new single, “Wasted Time,” on Tuesday. Greg Wells, who’s worked with the likes of AdeleKaty Perry and Pharrell Williams, both co-produced and co-wrote the song.

“I worked with a lot of new people on Ripcord,” Keith says of his eighth studio album, “and Greg was one I’d wanted to work with for a long time. He’d been writing a lot with [Hart] and so the three of us spent a couple days at Greg’s studio to jam and see if we clicked. Greg had this cool chord progression and I grabbed my guitar and started singing a melody. J suggested the title, and before we knew it, we were talking about growing up and all the things you do, no matter where you are in the world, and the song just took off from there.”

You can hear Keith perform his latest single Thursday night on American Idol, with his full album on the way May 6. “Wasted Time” is the third single from Ripcord, with “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16” and “Break on Me” having already gone to number one. He kicks off the tour that shares its name with the album on June 2, with Brett Eldredge and Maren Morris joining him on the road.
