Black River EntertainmentSomeone apparently forgot to tell Kelsea Ballerini it’s hard to get a female act played on country radio. Her debut single, “Love Me Like You Mean,” just went to #1 on Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart, making her the first female act to score a solo #1 hit since Carrie Underwood did it with “Blown Away” in 2012. Kelsea also joins an elite group of female acts, including Faith Hill, Trisha Yearwood and Carrie, to hit #1 with their debut single.

Kelsea says of her achievement, “To be in a group with artists like Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill and Deana Carter that have had debut #1s and then had brilliant careers after that, makes me so excited for what’s to come. Today, I just want to celebrate with my team because it’s a big victory for all of us, we’ve all worked really hard. Thank you Country Radio for making this HUGE milestone happen and making one of my biggest dreams come true.”

Kelsea is a co-writer on “Love Me Like You Mean It,” which is included on her debut album, The First Time, available now.
