Brad Lovell – Courtesy of Iconic Entertainment Kelsea Ballerini says finding out “Dibs” had hit number one was a little bit like going back in time.

“I was with a bunch of my friends waiting on a phone call that came, at midnight, telling me I had my second number one,” she recalls. “I had foils in my hair, I was eating pizza, and it was one of the best moments of my life because in that moment I remembered having girls’ nights when I was 12 and 13, playing all my friends’ songs on the guitar and talking about one day having a song on the radio. It was like a flash forward.”

Since her debut release, “Love Me Like You Mean It,” also went to number one last June, “Dibs” now makes Kelsea the first female artist in 15 years to hit the top of the charts with her first two singles. Jamie O’Neal last accomplished that feat, taking “There Is No Arizona” and “When I Think About Angels” to the top spot in 2001. Earlier, Deana Carter, Faith Hill and Wynonna all did the same.

Kelsea vies for both New Female Vocalist and Female Vocalist of the Year at the upcoming Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas.
