“Where was I when I found out it was number one? It was my birthday!” she recalled excitedly. “It was my birthday, and I remember thinking, ‘There’s no way that this is going to happen on my birthday!’ That’s just too much good luck. And it happened! And now we’re celebrating!” she laughed.

As planes landed in the background, the two-time CMA Awards nominee contemplated why “Peter Pan” has connected so well with the fans.

“I think people that haven’t experienced that kind of heartbreak yet like it because it’s a story line that everyone knows. It’s the story of Peter Pan. It’s the classic fairy tale, you know? It’s a Disney story. But the people that have experienced that, it’s the kind of heartbreak that not a lot of people talk about. Because it’s not someone that cheats or, like, does some massive thing that’s wrong. It’s someone that doesn’t emotionally match another person,” Kelsea explained.

Before performing her latest chart-topper and her new single, “Yeah Boy,” Kelsea also found out her debut album, The First Time, has just been certified gold, having sold more than a half-million copies.
