Image Courtesy Curb RecordsLee Brice wrote his #1 hit, “I Don’t Dance,” for his own wedding to wife, Sara, in 2013. Now that the song is up for Song of the Year at Wednesday night’s CMA Awards, Lee is truly realizing a childhood dream come true.

He explains, “When I was 10 years old writing them songs — I don’t know why it was — but the dream for me was to have a girl, write songs about her and it be on the radio. That was my romantic thing. I wanted that. So, this is the first time that that’s happening.”

Lee’s hit, “I Drive Your Truck,” won CMA Song of the Year last year, but he didn’t write it. Another song he wrote about an ex-girlfriend, “Crazy Girl,” was a hit for Eli Young Band and went on to win ACM Song of the Year a few years ago. All of those honors don’t compare with the Song of the Year nod for “I Don’t Dance.”

Says Lee, “‘I Don’t’ Dance’ is a very new beginning.”

Look for Lee to present a trophy on the 48th Annual CMA Awards Wednesday night at 8 ET on ABC.
