Metropolitan Nashville Police DepartmentLegendary Music City record producer Tony Brown has been charged with domestic assault, after an argument with his wife Monday night in the Nashville suburb of Belle Meade. According to the arrest warrant, Jamie Brown called police around 11:30 Monday night, alleging that her husband had “beat her up.” Officers arrived to find Tony sitting on the front steps of their home, while Jamie was inside her car with her dog.
She told police an argument started as the couple was discussing potential poses for a photo shoot the two had planned on Tuesday. According to the affidavit, Mr. Brown called the poses “slutty” and then “slapped her on the face,” before pushing her to the floor, where she hit her head. Mrs. Brown then says he got on top of her and started pulling her hair, as “he started smacking himself in the face” before pulling her down the hallway by her hair.
Officers took pictures on the scene, noting that Jamie had several marks on her body and evidence her hair had been pulled, due to damage to her hair extensions. She was taken to a nearby hospital, while Tony was booked and placed on a 12-hour hold at Nashville’s downtown jail.
Tony Brown began his career playing piano for Elvis Presley, before becoming a member of Emmylou Harris’ legendary Hot Band, eventually going on to produce huge hits for the likes of George Strait, Reba, Vince Gill and Brooks & Dunn. He was also president of MCA Nashville for a time in the nineties.
