ABC/Mark LevineMaren Morris wrote the song “Dear Hate” three years ago, and recorded it last year with Country-Music-Hall-of-Famer Vince Gill. Though her fans have often requested it, she’s never been quite sure when she would put it out — until now.

The Texas native has decided to release the song in response to the tragedy that happened Sunday night in Las Vegas, leaving at least 59 people dead and more than 500 injured. Maren herself played the Route 91 Harvest Festival on Saturday.

“I never knew when would be the right time, but I realized today that there’s never a right time,” Maren tweeted on Monday. “Hate is everywhere, and I’m sick of not doing enough. In the darkest tunnel, there is still love & music. That’s what it’s here for.”

Maren added a YouTube link where you can hear “Dear Hate,” along with a promise to donate any money she makes from the song to the Music City Cares Fund to help victims of the Vegas shooting. She also added the hashtag #LovesGonnaConquerAll, which is one of the lyrics in the song.
