CMA/Image Group LAOn Thursday, Little Big Town’s Jimi Westbrook will say his final goodbyes to his older sister Joyce Morgan, as she’s laid to rest in Sumiton, Alabama.

Just hours before her funeral service on Wednesday, Jimi posted her photo and a touching tribute on Instagram. “I want to tell you about my sister Joyce. One of the funniest people I’ve ever known. She was so full of life and light and if you were around her, chances are, you were laughing,” he started.

“When I was a kid she taught me to hold my head up and be confident in who I was,” he recalled. “That has always stuck with me. She always claimed that she wanted a little brother so bad that she prayed me into this world… and I always believed her. As hard as we knew how, we prayed to keep her in this world with us but somehow it wasn’t meant to be. My heart is so broken today and it will forever have a hole in it.”

In her obituary from the Birmingham News, her family thanks the staff of Nashville’s Sarah Cannon Cancer Center for their care and support, and requests donations be made to the Sarah Cannon Research Institute, named for the comedienne better known as Minnie Pearl.

All the other members of Little Big Town, including his wife Karen Fairchild, reposted Jimi’s remembrance of his sister. According to their website, the CMA Vocal Group of the Year is still set to play The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino this Friday in Las Vegas.
