ABC/Image Group LAIf Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley’s previous collaborations are any indication, we may be in for the wildest ride ever on Sunday night’s ACM Awards. This year’s co-hosts toured together in 2008 with Luke opening for Dierks and judging from the stories they’re telling, there wasn’t a dull moment.

“We trashed a couple of backstage areas,” Luke tells People.

“I showed this guy how to throw a backstage party,” Dierks brags. “And you passed it on to [Jason] Aldean!”

An amplifier that overheated every night inspired one of the most memorable episodes on the trek, according to Luke. “Finally we just had enough and decided to end it,” he says. “We doused it with beer and trashed it. The venue fined us like $2,000.”

But it gets even crazier, as Dierks recalls. “We did end up swinging from the rafters one night. Didn’t you have a flip camera tied to your belt?” he asks his co-hort. He goes on to confess one “hell of an after-party” was inspired by a rather disappointing show, where only 3,000 seats were filled in an arena made for 20,000.

“Me and Dierks ended up pouring shots for everybody at the bar,” Luke adds.

The pair’s latest antics start Sunday at 8 p.m. ET, as the two host the 51st ACM Awards live from Las Vegas on CBS.
