Luke Bryan's new album, Crash My Party, bows at #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart this week with the third-best opening week numbers of 2013. The project moved just under 528,000 copies, according to Nielsen Soundscan, putting it behind Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience and Jay Z's Magna Carta…Holy Grail, respectively.
"I’ve never been this excited about an album that I have put out, and the response I have gotten is really humbling and mind-blowing to me,” Luke says. “I am lucky to have some of the best fans in the world, and I am happy to see them enjoying this album as much as I do."
Crash My Party also scored the biggest opening sales week for a male country artist since Tim McGraw sold 766,000 copies of his album, Live Like You Were Dying, in the opening week back in November 2004.
According to Yahoo! Music, Luke is the first country artist to debut two albums at #1 on the Billboard 200 in the same year since Kenny Chesney did it in 2005. Luke's Spring Break…Here to Party album bowed at the top back in March. The only two other country artists to pull that feat off are Garth Brooks, who did it in both 1992 and 1998, and LeAnn Rimes in 1997.
