Image Courtesy ABCLuke Bryan‘s Friday performance on ABC’s Good Morning America Summer Concert Series brought more fans into Central Park than any other act on the show this summer. It’s just the latest nod of approval from the Big Apple for Luke, who is playing three arena shows in the city this year between Manhattan’s Madison Square Garden and Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

ABC News Radio spoke with Luke backstage at GMA Friday about his love affair with New York City. He says, “Growing up a small-town kid from South Georgia, and to be able to come up here and connect with New Yorkers and everybody up here in this part of the U.S., it’s really, really amazing.”

Luke actually watched the fans lining up to get in to Central Park to see his show.

He adds, “You never get tired of it. It always kind of puts a little warmth in your heart, and you just feel good when you know you’ve got a lot of fans that love you.”

While Luke had a big morning performing for his fans, his thoughts were with his son Bo, who started his first day of kindergarten back home in Nashville on Friday. Luke says Bo is much more prepared for school than he was back in Georgia.

“He’s gone to pre-K stuff and stuff to kinda get going,” Luke explains. “I mean, my mother woke me up one day and says, ‘Alright, you’re going to school today.’ That didn’t go well with me.”

Luke continues his That’s My Kind of Night tour next Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
