An L.A. woman saw a mean-spirited post online, where a photo of a man dancing had a caption saying, “Spotted this specimen trying to dance the other week. He stopped when he saw us laughing.”
The woman tweeted about the fat-shaming message and asked, “Anyone know this man or who posted this? There’s a huge group of ladies in LA who would like to do something special.”
She and her supporters used the hashtag #FindDancingMan and found the man living in London. They started an online fundraiser that has raked in more than $33,000—well past its $20,000 goal—and they’re throwing him a big party in L.A.
Pharrell has asked the woman to keep him informed about the party and Moby offered to DJ the event, tweeting, “No one should ever be ashamed about dancing.”
