The name of the man who shot at Riley County police officers and injuring one while barricading himself at his home at 3716 Hawthorne Woods Circle in Manhattan Friday afternoon has been identified.

According to an arrest report by the RCPD, 38-year-old Mark Harrison was taken into custody after surrendering to authorities after two hours.

Harrison is being charged for attempted capitol murder of a law enforcement officer and his bond was set at $2 million.

The RCPD has asked the Kansas Bureau of Investigation to lead the investigation into the shooting of the officer and the discharge of a firearm during the barricade incident. The Riley County Police Department Crime Scene Investigations unit will process the crime scene.

Harrison is a research associate at Kansas State University with the Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering.
