Warner Music NashvilleMichael Ray celebrated his first #1 hit, “Kiss You in the Morning,” with a party on Nashville’s Music Row Monday afternoon. His dad, stepmom and a few friends from his hometown of Eustis, Florida all came up for the celebration.

Michael said just before the party started, “They all got here early yesterday morning, so I’ve still got the stamps on from the pre-party yesterday that we had.”

Since “Kiss You in the Morning” has become a hit, the song has become a musical calling card for Michael.

“I’m still that guy where people go, ‘Who in the world is this guy?'” Michael says with a laugh. “And then I go, this is my first single, ‘Kiss You in the Morning,’ and they’re like, ‘Oh, he’s that guy.'”

Michael adds that he couldn’t ask for a better debut hit.

He says, “Once it starts off with that lick, it’s just a signature lick and the melody and everything, you see people’s reaction and the crowd growing.”

Michael will close out 2015 with an opening spot on Kip Moore‘s Wild Ones tour, kicking off October 8 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
