ABC/Image Group LAThis year, Miranda Lambert‘s Christmas will definitely be different than the ones she’s enjoyed in recent years, since it’s the first since her sudden divorce from Blake Shelton last summer — and it’s likely not made any easier by reports Blake will spend at least part of the holiday with his new love interest, Gwen Stefani. But one thing that hasn’t changed is how the CMA Female Vocalist of the Year feels about yuletide.
“I love, love, love holidays,” she says. “It’s my time to really be a girl. I grew up, you know, with all the decorations and cookin’, and I get really domestic during holidays. And it’s kind of weird ’cause it’s so opposite of who I am on stage,” she observes.
Last week, Miranda was onstage with the Nashville Symphony, as the organization presented her its Harmony Award. Her mom and dad got all dressed up and accompanied her to the annual ball at Music City’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center. As you might expect, she says her parents remain one of her very favorite parts of the holiday too.
“I love to bake cookies and cook dinner for the whole family, and I have every decoration you can think of,” she confesses. “I like to have a tree in every room… I mean I really, that’s my time to just get ultra-girly. And also it’s my time off usually, because there’s not really a lot going on during holidays, and so I really get to spend time with people I really care about.”
It’ll be back to work for Miranda in March, as she plays the Country to Country festival in London, Dublin and Glasgow. Then in April, she heads out on the road with Kenny Chesney for his Spread the Love stadium tour.
