Sony Music NashvilleMiranda Lambert was honored with the 70th star on the Music City Walk of Fame in Nashville Tuesday afternoon. The honor comes a decade after Miranda first lived in Music City while competing on the music competition show Nashville Star. That was her first time living away from her home state of Texas, and she didn’t last long in Tennessee.
She told the crowd with a laugh, “I lived in Nashville just long enough to make a record and then got scared and ran back to mom.”
Though Miranda and her now ex-husband Blake Shelton have had a place in Nashville for several years now, she has been spending a lot more time in the city since they split in July.
“I moved back here, and I’ve never felt more at home,” Miranda said. “I’ve never felt more inspired. I’ve listened to live music or written music every single day since I’ve been here for the whole summer, basically.”
Getting her star on the Music City Walk of Fame capped off a very creative few months for Miranda, and she’s taking inspiration from her fellow inductees, including legendary guitarist Steve Cropper and Nashville music industry pioneer E.W. “Bud” Wendell. Tommy Cash, the brother of Johnny Cash, was on hand to accept The Man in Black’s star on the Walk of Fame, too.
Miranda closed out her remarks saying, “I could not be more thrilled to have my name on the sidewalk down here, because it means the world. I also feel like I’m just getting started. I see these guys up here that are still so inspired about making music and being part of Music City.”
After the Music City Walk of Fame ceremony, Miranda played two shows at the Grand Ole Opry. Proceeds from the Opry shows went to benefit her Mutt Nation Foundation to help rescue animals across the country.
